The boy and I had been here a couple of times before for dinner and left feeling very underwhelmed. Now I'm giving them a 4-star review based SOLELY on their breakfast/brunch. We stopped in here on Easter Sunday because we wanted breakfast/brunch and didn't feel like cooking. We waited maybe 15 minutes and were seated. They apparently had a brunch buffet going on, so we opted for that. The food was awesome! They had waffles, an omelette station, and dinner options (a carving station, veggies, potatoes, etc.). I was quite impressed. The omelettes were good, the potatoes were awesome, and I was a happy camper because of all the bacon. I also ordered a milkshake because hey, why not? And it was pretty damned good too. I'd stick to breakfast here, but it's worth it if you go for that!

Perfect brunch place. Cheery ambience. Great for families & groups. Excellent diner-style food & service.

I'm satisfied every time I eat at Holiday's. There is enough space to where I never have to wait for a table and the waitstaff is always nice and friendly. Notice how I haven't even mentioned the food yet, which is tasty and inexpensive. Definitely give the Greek Omelette a try

After my experience last night, I unfortunately have to go along with Rob P.'s assessment that service has been lacking lately. Last night I ordered a Greek salad and my husband ordered pancakes. After waiting for what seemed like a long time--probably 20 minutes or so--our server came to our table to inform us that they were out of Greek dressing. It took them until our order was up to figure this out. I blame the kitchen for this and not our server, who was extremely nice and obviously annoyed with the cooks. At that point, my husband's pancakes were ready and I had her bring out his food and ordered a chicken quesadilla, figuring that should take maybe 5-10 minutes on the fly. It ended up taking basically the same amount of time we waited for our food originally. Another 20 minutes. At which point my husband was way done with his pancakes. There is absolutely no way that a quesadilla takes that long to make if it's expedited by the cooks, as it should have been. The food was delicious, but I was pretty annoyed--and starving--by that point. Our server comped our drinks--a soda and a milkshake--which was thoughtful of her, but I really think my quesadilla should have been comped as well and a manager should have checked up on us. I get the feeling things are pretty laissez-faire at Hoildays, which is usually fine, but not on this particular visit.

I have to write an update after my last several visits have been less than great...The food quality has remained pretty consistent ( perhaps deserving of 3 stars) but the service for whatever reason has deteriorated in my mind...Even the same waitresses I have always gotten here have begun to drop the ball. Last week I went to Holiday's for one of their great early bird specials. When I got my bill I noticed that I had been overcharged. Instead of the waitress acknowledging her error, she argued with me. I had to show her the menu to "prove" I was right. Besides this instance, I have noticed that there is a definite lack of attention to customer service here as of late. Though Holiday's used to be a favorite of mine, I will definitely be choosing Bell's Diner up the street or other places from now on :-/

Great service, depressingly bland food, some televisions. We went on the weekend, late afternoon, seating was about 10% full, so good, quick service was not a stellar achievement. The bland decor gave me pause which I should have heeded before entering. There are a few common things I order to "benchmark" a restaurant: one is fajitas, but I've never had to add salt and pepper to give fajitas enough flavor to be interesting enough to call food. My companion had something with meat and cheese, what exactly I cannot recall, which she found to be similarly bland. Sorry, Holiday's, you seem like nice people.

I dined at Holiday's on a quick day-trip to MI, and I think their overall Yelp rating is low, based on my personal experience. My salad and entree were quite tasty, and my dessert was awesome. But what I was most impressed by was their service. When I mentioned that I was on a quick day-trip from Chicago, the staff seemed genuinely interested in making sure that I would get home safely, on a bitterly cold night. Unlike many of Holiday's "chain" competitors, I didn't feel rushed to get in and out of the restaurant- they actually let me enjoy my meal. Overall, a very nice experience, and I would dine there again the next time I'm in Ann Arbor.

Westside Ann Arbor no frills diner. Family owned and operated. Good honest breakfast food with friendly service. Favorites: Omelets or the Two Egg-Hash Brown-Toast or the Breakfast Burrito. Ample parking. Reasonable prices, a rarity for this town. Sandwiches are hot and tasty. The Patty Melt is delish. The Gyro is a good choice if you are in the mood. Not a big fan of the salads, but no one is perfect.

Real good food. Real well cooked breakfasts. Real friendly expert service. Epitomizes the category of "American Food." Including being of good value.

Channeling my inner Leslie Knope, I have been on the hunt for a reliable belgian waffle in my neighborhood. Holiday's seems to be the best I've had so far. Stopped in on a Sunday at 2:36pm. I didn't realize they closed at 3 on Sundays so I was definitely "that guy." Sorry! But everyone was really nice and didn't give me a hard time about walking in under the wire. However, it did take a few minutes and a "can I get someone to take my order?" to a passing waitress for someone to come by and help me once I was seated. In all fairness I was alone and perhaps they thought I was waiting for someone else so they were holding back. I'll give the benefit of the doubt on this one. Alas, I was just a girl with a jones for breakfast while running errands solo. I asked for a waffle with strawberries and bananas and a side of ham (because I like a little salty with my sweet). It came out quickly and the waffle was good. The strawberries? Also good. The bananas? Not so good. Way overripe. They'd go great in pancake batter or mushed up in a quick bread but served on top of a waffle on their own? Not my favorite. I'll leave them off the next time. Ham was great. A big hunk with a nice sear, but not so cooked that it was dried out. The waffle also came with a bit of real butter (noteworthy because a lot of places serve it with that fake margarine malarkey) and a delightful crock of syrup. I dug it. Service was quick and being solo right before close I didn't linger. I was out of there and on my way by 3:15. I'll definitely be back.

This has to be one of Ann Arbor's least impressive diners. Gyros and chili are fundamentals of the diner menu, and Holiday's struck out with both. The meat on my wife's gyro was greasy and had all the zest of an off-brand hot dog, though she thought the fries were fine. The chili was essentially beans, meat and a little heat that didn't manage to mingle with and complement one another. I ordered the spanokopita with my chili...an unusual combo, but when I saw it on the menu a whim struck me. This was unfortunate. The filling actually wasn't bad, but the crust comprised the soggiest, greasiest phyllo I've ever seen. "Well, that's not something you should order at a coney joint anyway," some might say. But I've done it elsewhere in town and been very happy with the results. The atmosphere didn't help the meal any. Several vacated tables near us had dirty plates on them the entire time we were there--maybe Holiday's was understaffed that night. There was an odor in the air that I couldn't quite pin down, but suggested the kitchen was overdue for a cleaning. Given the number of cars I usually see in the lot when I drive by, Holiday's must do something right. But they sure didn't do right by us.

The food came out cold and the waitress paid no attention. In addition they asked me to put my open-carry license away it was disturbing and anti-american.

The usual suspects and then some. Prices are good and the service is consistent in a positive way. I especially like breakfast here. Get the home fries crispy and try an omelet (Greek!) or some homemade corned beef hash. Biscuits and gravy are a satisfying pick too. My last visit they had specials like pumpkin pancakes, breakfast crepes, Holiday skillets and some damn tasty cranberry orange French toast. You can tell what won. I loved every bite. I'm a sucker for cranberry orange for sure, add in some bacon and I am set. Dinners here work too but I am a diner breakfast type girl. I love that the OJ is fresh squeezed, I don't drink it but I appreciate it. I do drink the mighty leaf teas though and am happy for them. The coffee here is decent too. Especially for this type of joint. They have recently remodeled and now serve beer and wine to boot. Bad wines but decent beers, hey Two Hearted will work for me. The also have Founder's breakfast stout and some Wolverine dark lager. You can even find Flannel Mouth. Hmmmm. Maybe I should come again for dinner. Join the e club and such and get deals, specials and other perks.

We finally made it into this restaurant, and it's becoming a go to place for us. We've only been here twice but the food has been great both times. Wait staff is friendly and helpful. Food is served quick and hot. They do have a salad bar. Nice selection of different types of food. A favorite is the Spinach Pie which locals seem to like a lot (it was very good!). Recently had ribs, which were juicy and flavorful. We will be going back. Ohhh they also have a car show every Wednesday night from 5pm to 8pm.

Cheap food? 4 stars Decor & overall restaurant appeal? 1 star We went for dinner with a Groupon, and I was worried as we walked in that it was going to be a lousy place. The table is FULL of ads. They don't have a liquor license, though our server said theory were getting one soon. There were more workers than clients. The big surprise came when we got our food. It was actually REALLY good! We both got items off of the burger/sandwich part of the menu and both things were really tasty, and very importantly, they have awesome fries!! I would come back here if I wanted a quick, cheap meal with zero frills and if you can ignore bad decor and a huge lack of ambience.

This place has turned around! I wouldn't say it's delicious, gourmet food by any means, but I was skeptical when my family asked me to go to breakfast with them there- I'd been to Holiday's 3-4 years ago and have bad memories of the food. This time around, the food was hot and hearty. I ordered the corned beef hash and it tasted really fresh and tasty. My low expectations were definitely surpassed. Everyone else at my table liked their food too! I wouldn't necessarily come here over other breakfast places in Ann Arbor, but Holiday's is definitely a solid option with reasonable prices.

Excellent brunch experience! Food in abundance and sausage gravy that is really homemade. Breakfast burrito feeds two and tastes delicious. The only ding on the score was slow service but the food was worth waiting for. This is the traditional diner experience. Inexpensive, lots of food, and smiles.

Came here on Sunday with my mom, dad, and husband. I had purchased a Groupon quite awhile back I wanted to use... Like others have mentioned, it's a no frills diner, but that's kinda what you are looking for when you go to a diner. You want good food, not a beautiful atmosphere... This place didn't dissapoint on the food.... I had a half order of biscuits and gravy and it was excellent. The biscuits and gravy were fluffy and the gravy was nicely spiced. My dad also had a full order with a side of eggs. Both my mom and husband had some egg/meat/potato/toast option they said was good. My husband complained the orange juice tasted "funny". When I took a sip, I realized it was freshly squeezed. It's so used to the sugary crap I buy in the carton he couldn't appreciate fresh squeezed juice! Despite what he said, it was excellent! Be sure to check out the "Orange squeezer machine" they have near the entrance. The only downside to the restaurant is that the wait can be a little long (that happens at good places) and it's a little pricey, but worth a stop!

Yuck. I went here for breakfast today which was a terrible mistake. I haven't been there in 5-10 years, and heard they remodeled so I thought I'd give it a try. Don't get me wrong. I am NOT a food snob. I eat at the Fleetwood regularly, and they aren't really the best place around. But compare Holidays to the Fleetwood, and the Fleetwood seems Chop House good. First of all, the service was terrible. Our waitress, who had 3 tables, only came to our table twice-- once to take the order and once to give us our food. We had empty cups of coffee for over half the meal. I had to actually call her from two tables over to ask for more. She was extremely rude and unfriendly. I'm a waitress too, and there is no reason to act that way. Secondly, the food was terrible. It's not easy to screw up an omelette but they did a fine job with mine. The inside was completely watery, the cheese was clumped together in two inedible bunches, and the home fries were burnt to a crisp. Could not force down more than half my meal. I wish I was kidding. I will never give Holidays my business again.

Family diner style restaurant with comfort food-- if that is what you're looking for, I'd suggest Holiday's. Service can be subpar to awesome. I wish I could remember the server's name but I wholeheartedly appreciated her input on the menu and cheerfulness. Their ribs are fatty and yum, homemade soups were great. Good local spot!

Great food. The service was a little slow but it was lunch time. I had the pot roast hot sandwich. I was very good. The place is clean and the atmosphere is nice.

What I didn't understand was why the food I ordered wasn't piping hot when it got to the table. It was merely warm. Otherwise a decent diner. The prices are reasonable, but unlike what some have said, there is nothing remarkable about the fact that prices are reasonable. After all, this part of town isn't exactly prime estate (nearby competitors: Burger King, McDonalds, Taco Bell).

This restaurant has much improved since my family and I swore them off about 8 years ago. Good menu, friendly service, and pretty good food. My son and I stopped in for a quick breakfast on a Saturday early afternoon. He gobbled down the southwest burger and raved about it with each mouthfull. I had eggs, potatoes, bacon toast and a half order of the biscuts and gravy. Did I mention I was with a teenager. He ate his burger and half my breakfast as I expected and it was all very good. We were in an out in our allotted time, for which I was thankful, and we will definitely be back again. Bonus - they know how to properly cook eggs. Over medium means whites cooked, yolks running. Some places don't get it.

Review for Thanksgiving Day buffet only I came here because it was one of the few places open on Thanksgiving Day with hours about 9 or 10 and closing at 2. Damage: $13 per person with a buffet of sliced turkey breast, ham, mashed potatoes, beans with white gravy (huh??), boiled pumpkin, sweet potato, stuffing, and small cheesecake squares, and pumpkin and apple pie. The turkey was pretty dry and was obviously prepackaged since there were only round breast sections that were sliced uniformly. The other food was ok - solid and nothing exciting, but not bad either. For the price I was hoping for more (I suppose they're worried people wouldn't tip the waiters enough?), but there are certainly worse places to spend Thanksgiving if you're not in the mood - or have the wherewithal - to cook!

Over the weekend was our first time in. They didn't keep us waiting and it was a Saturday morning at breakfast!! I had the Banana Walnut Belgium Waffle, loaded with nuts then topped with fresh bananas and whip cream. The fiancee decided on the Greek omelet which looked very good as well. She claimed it was the best she'd ever had!! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

Holiday's, how I love thee. You are my refuge from my long day of hugging my coffee cup. You are my memory of eating after a long night of drinking. Strangely, I'm not drunk nor hung over when I visit. Your staff is great, the food is always served promptly, and my order is never wrong. Thanks for kicking the smoke before the deadline. You're my favorite lunchtime friend.

The wait time to be seated was average, which gave us high hopes for prompt service. However, we were thoroughly disappointed. After waiting 15 minutes to place our order, it took an hour to even receive our food. I ordered the Country Omelets which the waitress realized was missing the country gravy, after she brought it out. When she brought it back, the omelet was cold and the only thing that made it tolerable to eat was the unbelievably bland "gravy" on top of it. My guy ordered a simple breakfast; 2 eggs over-medium, sausage, hash browns and toast. His breakfast was not only cold, but his eggs were cooked beyond over-hard. And they somehow managed to get his choice of rye toast wrong. The coffee, although hot and constantly refilled, was watered down by any standards. And it took the waitress 3 trips to even ask if my guy wanted a refill on his ice tea. The only thing that saved them is the waitress comped his breakfast. I realize the blame cannot be put solely on the waitress, as she has no control over how terrible a job the kitchen staff does. However, she should have recognized the errors on the plates before serving them to us. I've been to a lot of breakfast places in Ann Arbor and have never had such a horrific experience. I will not be returning to Holiday's. I would rather drive 20 minutes out of my way to go to Achilles on Packard and Platt.

Holiday's has consistently has good food and great service. I am usually there for breakfast (which is fantastic), but I have had some of there dinner fare and that is great as well. You will not suffer from lack of choice when visiting this restaurant. I recommend the corn beef hash with home fries.

food is sub-par the usual diner. went a few years ago and wasn't impressed. willing to try again with the $20 worth of food for $10 coupon. it really didn't help. waitress was good but the kitchen took half an hour to get out two breakfasts with less than 1/3 of the tables full. the best i can say is the fruit cup was fresh, omelets not seasoned, and could not get the right amount of salt/pepper to give them flavor. the ingredients were so chopped together i hate to say what it resembled; never did find the cheese i paid extra for in the middle. wheat toast looked like it would be bakery quality till one bite said grocery store quality. tasteless! i was really hoping for better after the recent reviews. my recommendation is don't stop here,

This place caters to the octogenarian set and the food is just so-so. Prices are too high for what they serve as well. I have been there three times and that was enough for me.

This is the kind of place that John Boy would like: a family atmosphere and not the dysfunctional kind. I've been twice -- once shortly before they closed one night and once during lunch hour on Sunday. The first time we had practically no wait for our food (there were only two other tables occupied.) Service was terrific and they told us to take our time. The second time we waited around 30 minutes for eggs and pancakes. Our server was nice but preoccupied. So if there's a crowd be prepared for a leisurely meal, like in Europe. The salads and breakfast items are good: fresh vegetables, eggs that are cooked to perfection, huge pancakes, and proper sausage. The biscuits were a bit dry but the coffee covered that sin. The people are so nice here that it's a good place to take family and friends and catch up on each other.

Everyone at Holiday's was at least 20 years older than me, but that's okay. I was seated really quickly, and the food was delicious. I got corned beef hash, over medium eggs, and hash browns (yes, for some reason I could get even more potatoes with my corned beef hash), and they were all terrific. I love it when corned beef hash and hash browns have that perfect, slightly browned crispiness on the outside, and that's exactly what I got at Holiday's. I would definitely go back.

We tried Holiday's after purchasing one of the many online coupons. The food was we'll prepared and fresh. I made a comment to our table that the salad was mixed greens and fresh. This not a fancy restaurant, similar to Big Boy but local owned. The service was fine, unlike other reviewers we didn't have any issues. The prices are reasonable, I will probably try going back again.

When I feel like going into "retired old man" mode, and getting breakfast with some coffee before work, I find myself going to Holiday's. I'm not sure what makes me so high on Holiday's, but to me, eating there is like a Holiday in my mouth. I was first introduced to the breakfast scene at Benny's, which was supposed to be the Mecca of breakfast places in Ann Arbor, but I wasn't impressed with the long lines and the seemingly average to below average portions. I felt as though my endeavor to find great breakfast food in AA would diminish, because surely if I couldn't be pleased by one of the best breakfast landmarks in AA I would never be satisfied; that was until I found a little gem called Holiday's. I have never eaten anything except for breakfast there, but why would you, their breakfast is delicious. They're portions are great, and they are reasonably priced. There is always enough people there to let you know that you're at the right spot, but you don't have to snake your way through a line of hungover 20-something year olds (which often is myself) to just put your name in. Show me a better breakfast place and I will give you a gentlemanly handshake or a proper kiss on the hand. PS I wish I could give it a 4.5

I love Holiday's. My parents go there almost every Sunday for breakfast, and the waitstaff is fantastic. It's just basic breakfast diner food, but really hits the spot and there's good parking, rarely a huge wait like other breakfast places in town. I've never been there for dinner, though! I recommend the pancakes with fresh strawberries...and they have grits! Yumm.
